Hello again, i thought it would be only right to show mt XT restoration now its finished and thank again the members
for help. The XT runs great and i am very pleased with the finish and how it runs, i hope it will inspire others to restore

Hi Laurent i will keep looking in on the forum and now the XT250 will only be used on road.

My next project is something special , a Sonauto replica.
The tank is part way made and i am rebuilding the engine at the moment.

Here are the tank pictures on my bike and a few other parts getting ready.

















I am hoping i will be able to build a few bikes for people.

Did the handle bars come with the fork or can they be bought somewhere?
I am looking for one like that for my XT550 the original is about 2.5cm to low for me and i don't feel like putting some modern Renthal style bars on it.

Hi Leon

I have made the bar riser from solid bar , the clamps are standard XT500 with the centre drilled out.
Maybe the picture will explain better, the bolt is an allen bolt / cap head turned down.

I saw you made risers but I think if I get handle bars like that I do not need to get risers. the handlebars of my XT 550 are pretty low. I am looking at both options, risers or higher handlebars. here is a look at my XT. paintjob is the next thing but i'll wait untill the weather improves. I'll try to take better pics one of these days as well.



estetically i think higher handlebars might be the way to go. I do not really need to be totally oem but i do not want to go overboard on the new materials and designs.

The handlebars are i think from the xt600 range 43F or you could just buy some renthals like these,

Fun only but at the age of 49 and after restoring over 20 bikes maybe i can be classed as a professional.
