New member and looking for help

Hello gentlemen
As you may see i am English and unable to write very little French so my apologies for this.
I do log on the site every night to see what is new and its great reading the topics.
I have restored many XT500 's TT's and DT's but this is my first XT250 which i am enjoying, I have also
search the internet and this site does offer more information on the XT250 than any other site on the net.

I am restoring a very early 1981 XT250 with frame number of 00428 so a very early bike, i have search the
internet trying to find a camshaft , not wanting to spend 300 euros on a new one.
Is there anybody on the site who has a spare camshaft wishing to sell, if so i would be interested .
This is how far i have got with the XT and the only last thing is to finish the engine work.

Welcome on this frendly forum. Your bike looks immaculate and as you said your serial number shows its one of the verry first. Congratulation.
Subject to your camshaft as you know it's one of the critical part of this "little single". Mine was worn too i had opportunity to find one of a SR model witch is the same. We have in France a shop where you can have it regrind for around of 60€ maybe you can find such a solution in your country ?
I can just help in translating your request : (sans vouloir vexer personne)

Many thanks for the warm welcome, yes i am from England but do go to France for my holidays sometime which always involves taking a motorbike and riding around your wonderful country. Laurent i have the full engine and it is only the camshaft i am looking for, i havnt considered trying to see it can be re ground as i think it is too far worn, i do use google translate and will add some more pictures of the restoration tomorrow.

I did buy a new wheel rear wheel rim and spokes.















The last job is engine work



The barrel re bored and a new piston will be fitted

Many many thanks Laurent, i did buy the camshaft so hopefully the condition will be very good.
It looked in good condition in the photograph, i am very pleased i joined the forum and asked for help.
I can certainly say you have help OK, i will keep updating with progress on the XT250.
I have just spoken to a friend who has a front mudguard in very good condition and a brand new kickstart
which will be in my hand this weekend.

At the moment i have the carburetor in pieces reading to send the levers and screw plated and waiting for
the new clutch plates to arrive.

I'am glad for you as you said i hope the camshaft will be as good as it looks on the picture (it is supposed to have low running time)
We all like here your pictures and i personaly love your tiny and busy workshop.

Hi Laurent i will keep looking in on the forum and now the XT250 will only be used on road.

My next project is something special , a Sonauto replica.
The tank is part way made and i am rebuilding the engine at the moment.

Here are the tank pictures on my bike and a few other parts getting ready.

















I am hoping i will be able to build a few bikes for people.
